API Keys & BYOK Setup
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
Sytra is completely free to use. You bring your own API key from OpenAI or Anthropic, and you pay only for the tokens you consume directly to the provider.
Supported Providers
- Anthropic: Claude 3.5 Sonnet (Recommended for Coding)
- OpenAI: GPT-4o, GPT-4 Turbo
- Ollama: Llama 3 (Local, free)
How to Add Your Key
- Open Sytra and click the Settings Gear in the bottom left
- Paste your API key from your provider's dashboard
- Click Save — your key is stored in your OS Keychain (encrypted)
Key Security
Your API key never leaves your machine. It is stored using your operating system's native secure storage:
- macOS: Stored in Keychain Access (same security as your passwords)
- Windows: Stored in Windows Credential Manager
- Linux: Stored in libsecret (GNOME Keyring)
Typical Costs
Sytra is a free demo — we charge $0. Your only cost is what you pay to your API provider:
